Passive Society

You know..... we are going into the third week in the semester and the University has not furnished their customers with results from exams sat in 2009 Semester 1.
Once more I express my concern for those students (which may include me) that may have failed pre-requisite courses, I get nightmares actually.......I see a vision of myself being dragged away from my class by security while kicking and screaming "NO, I am not leaving."
This may become a reality for some, as they would be forced after 3 weeks to drop a course, if they have not met the requirements.
They may be brave enough to point out the injustice, indicating that it is not their fault that the University was late in giving results.
Hence they would refuse to leave the course in which they had already invested time, energy and money (having bought the recommended text ALREADY)

What is not surprising though is the fact that student only mumble and grumble under their breaths about the University's tardiness and yet do 'NUTTIN'. Also when students approach lecturers with their grievances the lecturers say that they have done their part, leaving the students with no hope. For me that counts for 'NUTTIN'. I also over heard that when a course coordinator was approached by a student to get their results they were told to wait until it is given by University. For me that counts for more 'NUTTIN'. Lets not forget the student guild.... 'NUTTIN'.

Somebody correct me if I am wrong

Ed Tech Again

Today is the end of the first week since our exam results are overdue.
I do not care if this is the norm, that is, receiving exam results 2 and 3 weeks into a new semester. I am sure that in developed countries this does not occur.
Additionally in this age of technology you would think that the results would be available electronically, tisk, tisk.
Instead one must stand in long lines as though begging for food or waiting for charity.
I feel sorry for persons (which may include myself) that after the long 2weeks or more of waiting who have to repeat courses. I hope those persons have not already settled down in their new class for the semester , since they may be told to get out because they did not make the pre-requisite. That would be SAD!!

Educational Technology

One would think that the sellers of a good product would also use the product, right?
How again can they convince their customers if they themselves cannot give estimony to its benifits. If not so then, they are just a really skilled sales person.
UTT's Education degree program promises that their future teachers would be computer literate and proficient and thus enabled to teach computer literacy and use technology in educating. The degree also preaches that a good teacher trains others by their example.
How then can a univeristy that instructs technology do not use it to make the lives of their students easier.
